My Honest Pregnancy Skincare Routine

My Honest Pregnancy Skincare Routine

Camilla Reyes

Pregnancy brings so many changes, and my skin definitely felt every one of them while growing Luna. From unexpected breakouts to dry patches and the fear of stretch marks, I learned quickly that my old routine needed a gentle, safe update.

I’ll be honest—my pregnancy skincare wasn’t about perfection or dozens of expensive products. It was about simplicity, consistency, and using things that made me feel safe for me and Luna. Here’s exactly what worked for me (and what I’d skip next time).

1. Gentle Cleanser Only
In my first trimester, my skin got extra sensitive. I swapped my usual foaming cleanser for a super gentle, fragrance-free one. Washing my face once at night (and just water in the morning) helped keep irritation away.

2. A Simple, Hydrating Moisturizer
Pregnancy dried out my skin, so I stuck with a plain, rich moisturizer with minimal ingredients—no harsh acids or strong scents. It felt calming after cleansing and kept my skin from feeling tight.

3. Belly Oil & Balm Ritual
One of my favorite parts of my routine was massaging a nourishing oil and balm onto my belly every night. It became my little bonding ritual with Luna, feeling her tiny kicks as I rubbed the oil in. Did it prevent stretch marks? Maybe not completely—but it helped me feel good in my skin.

4. Sunscreen, Every Day
Pregnancy hormones made my skin more prone to dark spots, so I made sunscreen a non-negotiable step, even on cloudy days. I chose a mineral sunscreen, safe for pregnancy, and reapplied if I went for a walk with Luna’s bump.

5. What I Skipped
I avoided harsh active ingredients—no retinol, no strong chemical peels, no harsh acne treatments. If I had a breakout, I just rode it out or used gentle spot treatments approved by my doctor.

I’ll soon share the exact products I used daily while expecting Luna—safe, simple, and affordable favorites that really helped me feel confident and cared for. If you want my honest, tried-and-tested list, subscribe to my newsletter here—I’ll be adding all my pregnancy-safe skincare finds soon! 💛
