My First Trimester Essentials – What Helped Me Most

Camilla Reyes

The first trimester of pregnancy is often a whirlwind of emotions, changes, and unexpected challenges. When I first found out I was pregnant with Luna, I felt overwhelmed by the advice, lists, and must-haves that flooded my social media feed. But through trial and error—and lots of conversations with other moms—I discovered a few simple essentials that truly made a difference for me.

First, comfortable clothing was non-negotiable. I invested in a couple of stretchy leggings and oversized t-shirts that I could wear at home or for a quick grocery run. Nothing fancy—just soft, breathable fabrics that didn’t squeeze my growing belly.

Morning sickness hit me hard, so ginger tea and crackers became my best friends. I kept a small stash of crackers on my nightstand to nibble before getting out of bed, and I swear it made mornings more bearable. A reusable water bottle was another must—hydration helped ease my nausea and kept headaches at bay.

Prenatal vitamins are obvious, but I wish someone had told me how picky you might have to be. I tried three different brands before finding one that didn’t upset my stomach. If you’re struggling with this, don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor about alternatives.

One unexpected essential was a small notebook. I used it to jot down questions for my doctor, track symptoms, and write little notes to Luna. Looking back, I cherish those pages filled with raw, honest thoughts and tiny milestones.

Lastly, support was everything. Whether it was my partner bringing me snacks at 2 AM or my best friend sending me memes when I felt down, staying connected made all the difference.

Soon, I’ll be sharing a detailed list of the exact products I used and loved during my first trimester with Luna—so you can find your own essentials more easily. Make sure you don’t miss it by subscribing to my newsletter here. 💛
